This is a day in my life as a software engineering trainee at rtCamp, written in my first months there.
Getting in
The day started with a little chaos. I booked a cab, worked my way through the morning traffic to the rtCamp office in Pune, and arrived right on time at 11:30. Cutting it close.
At reception I did not need an ID card. My rtCamp bag was enough to confirm who I was. Who knew a bag could do that?
The floor
On the office floor the marketing team was already at work on designs for the new rtCamp website. I said hello to familiar faces and settled into a seat near the AC, the best seat in the house.
The office is clean and modern: simple decor, good chairs, space to think. I made a note to explore every corner on my breaks.
Coffee first
First, coffee. The machine serves CCD coffee, which made my morning. The pantry has everything from healthy snacks to proper treats, and a fridge with eggs and kebabs. Easy to get distracted.
Lunch
At noon I went for lunch and ended up talking to people from other teams, swapping stories over a good meal. Office lunches are more fun than I expected.
Learning
Back at my desk I worked through course material on GraphQL and JSX. The learning does not stop. Later I joined a roundtable with the marketing team, asked questions and shared ideas.
A tour for the other trainees
At our daily check-in I gave my fellow trainees a virtual tour of the office on my laptop: the town hall screen, the conference rooms, and of course the pantry.
Wrapping up
At the end of the day I finished my tasks, filled in my time entries and wrote my daily reflection. Then I headed home, already looking forward to the next one.
